A Honda Accord key fob battery is a CR2032 when the car is a push-button smart key, which covers the higher trims of the later ninth generation and the tenth- and eleventh-generation cars as a rule. A CR1616 is the usual cell when the Accord still starts with a key you turn and the buttons are on a flip head. The Accord has used both in overlapping years. The badge on the trunk does not settle it.

Ninth-generation Accords, especially 2013 through 2017, are the messy shelf. EX and Touring cars commonly have the proximity fob and a CR2032. A base car can still be the older remote. Tenth-generation Accords from 2018 through 2022 moved the smart fob into the mainstream, still CR2032, with remote start on upper trims adding a button. Eleventh-generation Accords from 2023 on changed the shell again and kept the CR2032. Hybrid Accords use the fob of the Accord they are based on. There is no hybrid-only coin.
The smart shell opens with the emergency key and a coin. Flip keys open with a screw. Using the coin method on a flip key cracks the head. Using a screwdriver on a 2020 Accord smart fob snaps the hooks. Look at how the car starts before you look for a tool.
Short range, a low-battery message, or a fob that only starts the car when it touches the start button are the battery symptoms. They are not a request for programming. Replace the cell the stamp names. If a used Accord wears a newer dealer fob, the stamp still wins over the year on the title.
If the fob still misbehaves
An Accord fob that dies a month after a new cell should live away from the car at night. If a second good cell dies just as fast, ask a dealer to check for a fob update before you buy a third cell or a whole key.
